Useful tips for travelers

  • Money: Exchange currency at official exchange offices (“menjačnica”).
  • Transport: Belgrade has convenient taxis (use apps) and public transport. For traveling around the country, consider renting a car.
  • Mobile connection: Buying a local SIM card is recommended.Language: Many Serbs, especially young people and those in tourism, speak good English.
  • Portions: Serbian portions are very large and filling — keep that in mind when ordering.
  • Religion: The main religion in Serbia is Orthodoxy. The country has many active monasteries and churches, important cultural and historical sites. When visiting monasteries, women should cover their heads and shoulders, and men should wear long pants.
  • Currency: Serbian dinar (RSD). 1 Kazakhstani tenge ≈ 0.18 dinar. Cards are widely accepted in cities, but for markets and small establishments, it’s better to have cash.
